Hope everyone is getting in that holiday mode and has started their shopping. If you need a little help getting in the season or can't find that perfect gift for the special someone who already has everything. Come by on Saturday to see Lauren and I at our Holiday Pottery Sale. Some examples of our work can be seen in earlier posts, on ETSY or at Lauren's bog.
We hope to see everyone there even if you just bring some holiday cheer.
A sign will be posted at the end of the street to aid with the directions for those without GPS. At the house (studio in the basement) my friendly gnome will greet you. If there is no gnome you are on the wrong Mary street.
If you need additional information please email at haugceramics@gmail.com
The address for the studio / sale location is 203 N Mary Street, Wilmington, De 19804. We will be there Saturday Dec 4th from 10am to 5pm
Happy Holidays
Artist Statement
My current work has been exploring the idea of process. I am interested in the texture of bubble wrap, styrofoam, string and corrugated cardboard. My process involves creating a duplicate of these materials and textures in clay. The juxtaposition of these soft manufactured materials to the stiffness of clay produced from my hands interests me along with the viewer’s response.
How the process progresses, its function and the interaction with the viewer are important to me and determine the final look and feel of the work. From my biology background there are so many processes to study that the ceramic work I complete complements that research.
